Giving Tree Project to spread holiday cheer at Essentia Health

Students from Lester Park Elementary School will be spreading holiday cheer at Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center on Thursday, Dec. 19. The students have been working on ornaments and decorating small trees, which they will deliver to Essentia patients starting at 11:30 a.m. in the Duluth Clinic Third Street Building (400 East Third Street).

The project began years ago when a young boy told his family he’d like to give back to the nurses and doctors who had helped save his little brother’s life following a severe burn. It became his personal “giving” project to donate spirit-of-the-season trees to patients who may not be able to go home for the holidays.

The project’s success has touched the lives of hundreds of Essentia patients over the years.

For media who would like to attend, please notify Louie St. George and meet in the lobby of the Duluth Clinic Third Street Building at 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
