Essentia Health welcomes new chief operating officer

Essentia Health is pleased to announce the appointment of Al Hurley as chief operating officer for Essentia Health’s West Market, which includes eastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota. Hurley has been serving as the senior vice president of operations for this market since November 2018.

Prior to joining Essentia, Hurley was in Bismarck, where he was chief operating officer responsible for operational performance at another health system and oversaw their medical center, long-term care and ambulatory services in central and western North Dakota. His previous experience also includes over 15 years of senior leadership in Iowa, Montana and Texas.

Tim Sayler, who is currently serving as the chief operating officer for Essentia Health’s West Market, announced his retirement earlier this year. “I’m grateful for my time at Essentia,” says Sayler. “I appreciate everyone I’ve had the opportunity to work for, and it’s been a privilege to serve patients. Al is a great leader and welcome addition to the team as we continue our mission of making a healthy difference in people’s lives.”

Sayler has been with Essentia Health for five years. His last day will be April 15.
