Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center Hospice will hold “Service of Remembrance” events in Grand Rapids, Duluth and Virginia over the next month.
In a tradition that started at St. Mary’s Hospice in 1991, these services are held to remember patients who died while in hospice, as well as honor their families and friends and thank their caregivers. Among the three events (schedule below), more than 1,200 persons will be remembered.
“Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Hospice staff and volunteers appreciate being able to provide this time for reflection and remembrance for those who have lost loved ones over the previous year,” said Sandee Carlson, hospice director at Essentia. “We have heard from attendees in the past that taking this time is an important part of their journey, and creating a special place and time to do so is meaningful.”
Following the services, coffee and fellowship will offer additional time to connect with others, including some of our hospice staff and volunteers.
