Essentia Health to host opioids panel discussion

Essentia Health is hosting “Opioids in our community: Prevention, treatment & recovery,” a two-hour community discussion, on Monday, Oct. 14, at Clyde Iron Works, 2920 West Michigan Street.

Presented by the Essentia Institute of Rural Health (EIRH) and Essentia Health Foundation, the free program runs from 5-7 p.m. and is open to the public, as well as medical professionals interested in learning more about the opioid crisis in our local community. A reception and exhibits are scheduled for 5-5:45 p.m., with an opioid panel discussion to follow. Complimentary appetizers and refreshments will be provided.

“This year’s event focuses on partnerships between Essentia Health, the EIRH and other community organizations in solving opioid epidemic issues faced by many,” said Irina Haller, EIRH research scientist.

The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Joe Bianco, Opioid Oversight Committee Chair at Essentia. The panel of local experts will focus on solutions to health, social and economic impacts of opioid misuse and overdose. Attendees also will have the chance to talk with and question the panelists.
