Essentia Health partners with Minnesota Vikings

Baby Cason Whiting wrapped in Vikings sleep sack

For the second year in a row, Essentia Health St. Mary’s-Detroit Lakes is partnering with the Minnesota Vikings to hand out a sleeper to all babies born on game-day as part of their Vikings Newborn Fan Club.

For one Detroit Lakes couple welcoming their first baby, the gift was a pleasant surprise. Mark and Kate Whiting welcomed their first child, Cason, into the world on September 15, 2019 which happened to be NFL Sunday and the day the Minnesota Vikings played the Green Bay Packers. While the outcome of the game was a disappointment, the birth of Cason more than made up for the loss.

Mark and Kate, both born and raised in Alexandria, Minnesota have been lifelong, loyal Vikings fans through it all and plan to raise Cason the same way.

“This is a really neat promotion and we were surprised by the gift. Being Vikings fans, it was perfect, and we really loved it. Cason loves his sleeper and is putting it to good use,” says Kate.

Included in the gift box was an invitation to join the Vikings Newborn Fan Club, a personalized, digital Vikings birth certificate, quarterly e-newsletters and special offers.

For newborns not born on game-day, the Minnesota Vikings encourage parents to join the newborn fan club via their website:
