Essentia Health Co-Sponsors Community Blood Screening Event

Essentia Health is proud to partner with Frazee-Vergas Community Education for a community blood screening. The screening will take place from 7 to 9 a.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2019.  The event will be held at Essentia Health St. Mary’s-Frazee Clinic, located at 300 Main Avenue E. No pre-registration is required.

Blood screening can provide important information for diagnosis and treatment of many diseases. Depending on your age, blood screenings should be conducted at least once per year. This year’s panel will focus on cholesterol and blood sugar. Analysis will include cholesterol (blood lipids), triglyceride (blood fats), high density lipoproteins (HDL), low density lipoproteins (LDL) and glucose (blood sugar).

Cost for the blood screen will be $25 per person. Cash and checks, made payable to Essentia Health-St. Mary’s, will be accepted. The cost will cover collection of blood samples, professional analysis of samples and results report.

Before the test, it is recommended that food and drink be restricted for 9-12 hours. It’s okay to drink water. Screening results will arrive in the mail within two weeks. For those with an Essentia MyChart account, results will be available the next morning. Follow up with your primary care provider is encouraged if there are questions about the results.
