Oh Baby! Mom and baby happy and healthy at Essentia Health-Fargo after birth in the back of a truck

Thousands of babies are born in the Birthing Center at Essentia Health-Fargo every single year. However, some want to join the rest of the world before mom and dad can make it to the hospital.

Little Signe Marie Harless couldn’t wait for the hospital and joined the world in the back of a farm truck in the Essentia Health-Fargo parking lot. Baby was born at 9:32 p.m. on Feb. 1 coming in at 8 pounds 1 ounce, 21 ½ inches long.  Mom, Danielle Harless of Halstad, Minn., said she started going into labor around 8:45 p.m., got in the truck with her husband Paul, and headed to Fargo.

Just when the couple pulled into the parking lot, the baby made up her mind and decided to arrive. The father, Paul, helped deliver his daughter.

Once the team at the Emergency Department was notified of the situation, nurses jumped into the back of the truck and the umbilical cord was cut.

Mom and baby are happy and healthy, resting at Essentia Health-Fargo.

Signe is welcomed into this world by two older brothers back home. Both under the age of 2.

The parents have requested no media interviews as they bond with their child.
