Patients gave Essentia Health physicians, advanced care practitioners, facilities and departments high marks in patient experience surveys, generating numerous awards for the organization and its care providers by Professional Research Consultants (PRC).
Essentia contracts with Professional Research Consultants (PRC) each year to randomly survey patients in its hospitals and clinics. PRC uses these surveys to rank physicians, advanced practitioners, facilities and departments within its database of approximately 400 health care organizations. PRC then awards excellence based on patient experience surveys.
Six physicians receiving PRC’s “Top Performer Award” for scoring at or above the 100th percentile for the “Overall Quality of Doctor Care” question on the survey care for patients in Duluth. They are Dr. Bret Friday, an oncologist/hematologist at the Cancer Center in Duluth; Dr. Daniel Nikcevich, an oncologist/hematologist at the Cancer Center in Duluth; Dr. Nicole Seacotte, a gynecologist/obstetrician at the Duluth Clinic; Dr. Theresa Smith, a gastroenterologist at the Duluth Clinic; Dr. Daniel Skorich, an ophthalmologist at the Duluth Clinic; and Dr. Erin Thackeray, a gastroenterologist at the Duluth Clinic.
In addition, 78 physicians and advanced practitioners across Essentia’s entire service area received 5-Star awards for scoring in the top 10 percent (at or above the 90th percentile) for Overall Quality of Care; 119 physicians/advanced practitioners received 4-Star awards for scoring in the top 25 percent (75th through 89th percentile).
In the facilities/departments category, three received Top Performer awards. Winning for Overall Quality of Care were the Northwest Wisconsin Cancer Center in Ashland and the Endoscopy Services Department at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital-Superior. Essentia Health-Ada won two Top Performer awards – one for “Hospital Environment” and one for “Responsiveness of Staff.” Fourteen facilities/departments received 5-Star awards and six received 4-Star awards.
Two Essentia facilities won special PRC awards for initiatives they completed last year. A Platinum Achievement Award went to the Duluth Clinic’s Urgent Care team and a Silver Achievement Award went to the Emergency Department team at Essentia Health-St. Mary’s in Detroit Lakes.
