Published on November 12, 2018
Child and adolescent psychologist Stephen Ryan has joined the Behavioral Health Department at the Essentia Health-Polinsky Medical Rehabilitation Center in Duluth, Minnesota.
“I have a passion for working with children and adolescents with intellectual and developmental disabilities, with particular emphasis on assessing and treating challenging and disruptive behaviors,” says Ryan. “Using a behavior analytic approach, I provide functional assessment and develop function-based treatments that can be implemented in the home and community.”
Ryan earned a doctorate degree in psychology from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. He completed a fellowship at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland.
“After growing up in a rural state with few services locally available, I understand the importance of having compassionate, evidence-based care widely accessible to children and families,” says Ryan. “I strive to provide this care for all, and place an emphasis on learning about each family’s unique circumstances to provide targeted, feasible treatment plans.”
To schedule an appointment with Ryan, talk with your child’s provider about a referral. To see his full profile, visit EssentiaHealth.org and click on “Find a Doctor or Provider.”
