Published on September 27, 2018
Nurse Practitioner Jeannine Mueller-Harmon joined the Behavioral Health Department at the Essentia Health-Duluth Clinic in Duluth, Minnesota.
Mueller-Harmon brings nearly 40 years of nursing experience to this position. “When I became a family nurse practitioner in 1998, it became very clear that mental health issues were omnipresent and poorly treated,” she explains. “I continued my training to specialize in behavioral health so that I was better able to address these issues for my patients.”
Mueller-Harmon earned master’s degrees in nursing from Metropolitan State University in St. Paul, Minnesota, and the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, North Dakota. She is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a family nurse practitioner and a psychiatric/mental health nurse practitioner.
“I am interested in caring for people with chronic mental illness, as it allows me to use both of my certifications since many people with chronic conditions are often prescribed medications that improve their symptoms but put them at risk for chronic physical health conditions,” explains Mueller-Harmon. “Prevention and recovery are possible in psychiatry and I believe everyone deserves the best quality of life they can have.”
