Essentia Health stroke program earns high honor

A recent recognition continues to affirm that patients suffering from a stroke are receiving the best care possible at Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, according to an award by the American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association (AHA/ASA).

The stroke program at Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center recently received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s  highest award. The “Get with the Guidelines-Stroke” program: “Stroke Gold Plus with Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite Plus” award recognizes hospitals that commit to providing the most appropriate stroke treatment according to nationally recognized guidelines and the latest scientific evidence.

“This is the second year in a row we have received the highest recognition for the quality of care we provide for our patients,” says St. Mary’s Stroke Program Manager Diane Roach. “This recognition further demonstrates our commitment to delivering advanced stroke treatments to patients quickly and safely.”

The criteria hospitals must meet to receive the awards are designed to speed recovery and reduce death and disability for stroke patients. The hospitals will be recognized during the AHA/ASA International Stroke Conference Feb. 6-8, 2019, in Honolulu.
