Essentia Health-St. Joseph Medical Center and Clinics asked employees to nominate their colleagues who best exemplify the Essentia Health core values of Quality, Hospitality, Respect, Joy, Justice, Stewardship, and Teamwork in their daily work. Seven individuals out of 1,500 employees were selected as the value ambassadors for 2018 and recognized during the recent Employee Recognition banquet on September 27 at Maddens Resort.
“Our Mission Council along with some past value awardees had the difficult task of choosing from many nominations, only one ambassador per core value is chosen each year. We are blessed to have so many wonderful co-workers here!” said Alex Chamtcheu, Director of Pastoral Care at Essentia Health-St. Joseph’s Medical Center.
Congratulations to our 2018 Value Ambassadors: Donna Gottsch, Christina Thell, John Kroll, Linda Gondringer, Patti Frederickson, Peggy Holtz, and Colleen Kinkaid.
Donna Gottsch, RN, Pre-Surgical Coordinator at St. Joseph’s-Brainerd Clinic, was recognized for living the value of Quality. Donna keeps information and communication flowing between departments to provide a safe surgical experience for all patients.
The Hospitality award was presented to Christina Thell, CNP, General Surgery at St. Joseph’s-Brainerd Clinic. Chrissy shows hospitality, sensitivity and kindness to all who come in contact with her. She listens not just with her ears, but warmly with her whole self; giving undivided individual attention. She is a caring patient advocate in the clinic and in the operating room.
John Kroll, Maintenance Engineer at St. Joseph’s Medical Center, received the Respect award. John can talk to anyone as a true friend, he seems to thrive to be there for anyone who needs words of encouragement or a smile.
Linda Gondringer, Pathology Processing Assistant at St. Joseph’s Medical Center, was recognized for living the value of Joy. We are very proud that Linda is the first recipient for our value of Joy. In the Laboratory, Linda makes her patients feel welcomed and at ease whether it is on the phone or in person and she does it all with a smile.
The Justice award was presented to Patti Frederickson, Patient Access Representative at St. Joseph’s-Brainerd and Baxter Clinics. Patti is always willing to step up to find an open and fair solution to any issue advocating for and helping patients.
Peggy Holtz, Chaplain at St. Joseph’s Medical Center, received the Stewardship award. Part of stewardship is managing people wisely on behalf of others. Peggy started the “No One Dies Alone” program which is staffed by volunteers who sit by the side of the dying when they have no one else.
The Teamwork award was presented to Colleen Kinkaid, Quality Specialist at St. Joseph’s Medical Center. Colleen is always willing to help her co-workers. She truly cares about offering great patient care not only on the front lines, but also behind the scenes.
“When asked how Essentia Health carries out its’ mission “to make a healthy difference in people’s lives” I explain it’s all about our dedicated employees and physicians and the caring spirit our patients experience when they receive our services”, explains Adam Rees, President, Essentia Health-St. Joseph Medical Center and Clinics. “I want to thank all our 2018 honored employees for setting a great example for all of us in daily living out our values and mission”.
