Nicole Kiesow, a physician assistant at Essentia Health-Fosston has been awarded the Rowe Preceptor Award. The award was established by Jamestown, ND family practice physician, Dr. Scott Rowe and his wife Kathy. When Dr. Rowe retired, he shared his passion for medicine by mentoring students and started an endowment through the Essentia Health Regional Foundation to provide a scholarship award for mentors or preceptors who go above and beyond.
Kiesow was nominated by University of North Dakota student Christine Leonard. She met Kiesow during her first semester of clinical training in the Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) program. “Nicole made my first semester easy. She is so knowledgeable in her profession, great with her patients and very warm and welcoming to anyone who is new. She provided me with a safe and supportive environment where I felt comfortable asking her anything. I’m grateful for the trust and confidence she instilled in me. She has continued to mentor me throughout semesters in the FNP program,” Leonard wrote in her nomination.
The Rowe Preceptor Award is issued twice each year to mentors or preceptors who demonstrate the mission of Essentia Health and have a genuine belief in teaching and sharing their experience and knowledge with young professionals
