Essentia Health Announces Poster Contest Winners

Essentia Health encouraged students in kindergarten through fifth grade to learn about sun safety and participate in our ‘Here Comes the Sun’ poster contest. Students were asked to come up with creative posters that encouraged others in our community to be sun safe.

Skin cancer isn’t something that kids usually get, so you probably don’t think about it much. But, a lot of grownups get skin cancer and often, it’s because of things they did – or didn’t do – when they were kids.

Students from Fargo, West Fargo, Moorhead and Dilworth participated in the contest. They learned valuable sun safety tips like don’t burn, avoid sun tanning and tanning beds, generously apply sunscreen, wear protective clothing and more. From the submissions received in each city, 10 finalists were chosen and from these submissions, a grand prize winner in each city was chosen.

The finalists all received a sun safety swag bag courtesy of Essentia Health and Scheels All Sports. This swag bag included sun glasses, frisbee, sunscreen and lip balm. Plus, each grand prize winner received a family pool pass for their hometown pool.

The grand prize winners’ posters will be displayed in public locations this summer to encourage the entire community to remember sun safety.

Congratulations to the 2018 Sun Safety Grand Prize Winners:
