Dementia Choir to Start in Brainerd Lakes Area

Dementia patients and their caregivers are invited to join a new choir designed specifically for them starting November 26, 2018.

Multiple studies have found that the ability to recall music and nurture singing are among that last to areas of the brain to be affected by dementia. Music truly connects us, and for those living with dementia, music therapy provides a way to connect with loved ones. People with early to mid-stage Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias note increased self-esteem, confidence and a strong sense of belonging after singing. A volunteer group is creating that experience locally by forming a dementia choir. The choir will gather on Monday nights starting November 26, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 228 N 8th St, Brainerd.

All are invited. For more information please contact Diane Guidi at
