More than 28,000 of our friends and neighbors go hungry in North Dakota. Those numbers come from the USDA' Food Security Report and are a shocking reminder that hunger does exist right in our communities. Essentia Health in Valley City wants to bring that number down with its new Little Free Pantry.
The pantry is right behind the clinic and has food and personal hygiene products for anyone who needs it. The folks at Essentia are donating the food and other items in hopes people who need them, take them.
"Seeing hungry families as our neighbors in 2017 is absolutely heartbreaking," said Dr. Tanya Diegel at Essentia Health - Valley City. "There is no need for anyone in our country or community to have an empty stomach. If we can make even the slightest difference, we are fulfilling our call to create a healthy difference in people lives. For those who can't put food on the table, please, take what you need and need what you take."
The pantry is located directly on 2nd St. NE in Valley City, right behind the clinic, and is accessible 24/7.
