Seventy percent of Americans say they wouldn't know what to do if a loved one is suffering a heart attack or in sudden cardiac arrest. In those scary and tense situations, it's incredibly important to call 911 and start CPR if needed. If CPR is given right after a cardiac event, the chances of survival skyrocket.
The team at Essentia Health is joining forces with the Barnes County Ambulance Service and Our Savior Lutheran Church in Valley City to host a hands-only CPR and AED training.
Tuesday, Nov. 14 from 4-6 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran at 138 3rd St. NW, people will learn how to use an AED machine and perform hands-only CPR. At 5:15, Dr. Tanya Diegel will present the church with the AED machine donated by Essentia to promote health and healing in the community.
"Whenever we have an opportunity to get outside the clinic and help people in the community, it means so much more," said Dr. Tanya Diegel. "This AED machine could save the life of our friends and neighbors in Valley City. That's why I'm committed to making sure as many people as possible know how it works."
Free blood pressure checks will also be available at the event.
No RSVP required. If you have any questions, please call 701-364-8057 or email Leah.Deyo@EssentiaHealth.org
The CPR training does not qualify for CPR certification.
