Essentia Health-Sandstone earns prestigious cardiac rehab certification

Essentia Health-Sandstone is proud to announce the certification of its cardiovascular rehabilitation program by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR).  Essentia Health-Sandstone was recognized for its commitment to improving the quality of life by enhancing standards of care.

"This certification is a significant achievement for Essentia Health-Sandstone as it shows we are aligning with the best practice standards to provide safe, effective, high quality care to our community members," says Heather O'Brien, who directs nursing care at Sandstone.

Cardiovascular rehabilitation programs help people after suffering a heart attack or having cardiac surgery.  The program features exercise, education, counseling and support for patients and their families.

"Patients, their families and their physicians can feel confident they are receiving the best care at Essentia Health-Sandstone Cardiac Rehab," says Erin Olson, a nurse in the rehabilitation program.  "Being certified shows we are aligning with current guidelines for appropriate and effective care "“ care our physicians rely on as an extension of their care to the patients we serve."

AACVPR Program Certification is the only peer-review accreditation process designed to review individual programs for adherence to standards and guidelines developed and published by AACVPR and other professional societies. Each program is reviewed by a committee and certification is awarded by the AACVPR Board of Directors.
