Essentia Health-Fosston celebrates the season of giving with Hospice Tree Walk

With some extra cheer in the air and a wanting to give, the holiday season is truly special for many in our community. Essentia Health-Fosston wants to bring even more tidings of joy with its 16th annual Hospice Tree Walk.

Sunday, Dec. 3 at the Magelssen Elementary north gym at 701 1st St. E. in Fosston, you can join in the holiday spirit while helping your friends and neighbors in need of end of life care. You can help by sponsoring a tree, donating a wreath to the silent auction or sponsoring an angel in the Celebration of Life Angels.

The tree you sponsor will be auctioned off with all proceeds benefiting Fosston's Hospice Care. This gives you or maybe a group at work, church, or in the family a chance to dress up a tree Charlie Brown would be proud of. The tree can be decked in traditional holiday ornaments, or you can also pick a theme.

There will also be a pancake breakfast from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and cider and goodies along with games for the kids from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. The silent auction goes from 10 a.m.-2:15 p.m.

At noon, Jolly Old St. Nicholas will take a break from his workshop and deliver some early Christmas gifts, so you better watch out and better not cry.

After a visit from Santa, the Celebration of Life ceremony will start at 1:30 p.m. The ceremony honors all those who have passed. People can purchase angels in memory of a loved one that has passed and the angel will then be placed on a tree at the event.

For more information or to donate to the Essentia Health-Fosston Hospice, you can call 218-435-7670 or mail donations to 900 Hilligoss Blvd. SE. Fosston, MN 56542.
