New spot for healing unveiled at Essentia Health-Fargo
Patients, their families and staff at Essentia Health-Fargo now have a new spot to decompress on campus.
On Monday, Essentia Health employees along with members of the Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo Chamber of Commerce celebrated the hospital’s new healing garden — a patio that consists of seating, pergola and flowers.
Located on the east side of the hospital at 3000 32nd Ave. S., patients who look down on the garden from the floors above can see that it is designed after the Essentia logo.
This healing garden has been in the works for three years. It was first proposed by employees and has been funded completely by PEERS, the employee giving program at the Essentia Health-Fargo Foundation.
“When I first joined Essentia Health, one of the first comments I heard was, ‘I wish we had a healing garden,’ ” Foundation Director Susan Omdalen says. “I’m so excited that this project has come to fruition, and our hope is that this garden will be a place of comfort and peace for those patients and families who may be going through a difficult time.”
The garden not only serves patients and family members, but it will give health care providers a peaceful setting to relax in before returning to their shift.
“Our health care providers have gone through a lot these past few years,” Omdalen says. “They deserve a place to unwind as well, and I am so proud of them for raising the funds needed for this project.”
The estimated cost for the project raised by employees was approximately $200,000.
This garden is just one way in which Essentia Health is living out its mission of making a healthy difference in people’s lives.
