Masking now optional at Essentia Health’s fitness centers

Essentia Health is making masking optional for members of our fitness centers, effective immediately.

Masking is still required among Essentia staff as well as patients visiting a fitness center for physical therapy.

Kurt Radke, operations senior director at Essentia, said the change comes partly as a result of feedback from members, who have acknowledged the challenges of exercising vigorously while wearing a mask.

“It is Essentia’s mission to make a healthy difference in people’s lives,” Radke said. “Physical fitness is a fundamental component to physical and mental well-being, and we want to make our facilities accessible, comfortable and safe for everyone.”

Other COVID-19 safety protocols remain in place, including social distancing and the placement of additional cleaning stations throughout our fitness centers. Extra cleaning of equipment is required following each use, as well.

Essentia operates several fitness centers around the Northland.

It’s important to note that masking remains a requirement at Essentia’s other facilities, such as hospitals and clinics.
