Essentia Health St. Joseph’s-Baxter Clinic receives imaging accreditation
The Essentia Health St. Joseph’s-Baxter Clinic is proud to announce both its 2D and 3D mammography units have been accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR).
ACR accreditation is the gold standard in ensuring patients receive top-notch imaging and diagnostic treatment. This means patients can have confidence in the ability of Essentia to provide high-quality mammograms while adhering to the highest standards for the patient. It also has financial benefits for the patient as well by helping them avoid expensive, out-of-pocket costs.
“Our patients deserve the best care possible, and this accreditation ensures we are held to the highest standards in delivering care and putting our patients’ minds at ease,” said Cindy Larson, Essentia’s diagnostic imaging supervisor. “Earning this honor truly is a team approach that requires everyone on our imaging staff to work together to earn and maintain this standard of work and deliver it to our patients.”
To become accredited, the mammography unit had to undergo a rigorous inspection and be subject to an independent third-party review process that rates image quality, patient protections, equipment quality and personnel qualifications.
The accreditation lasts for three years. The clinic is subject to random reviews to ensure it stays current on accreditation criteria.
The Essentia Health-St. Joseph’s Medical Center mammography unit, as well as the hospital’s stereotactic breast biopsy unit, also are ACR accredited, meaning Essentia has three ACR-accredited units in the Brainerd Lakes area.
The ACR is comprised of more than 34,000 physicians. Its accreditation program is one of the most trusted and proven methods to ensure imaging facilities adhere to the highest possible standards.
