On December 16, Essentia Health colleagues filled Bentleyville's volunteer slots to serve cookies and hot cocoa, hand out popcorn, greet guests, and so much more. Colleagues and visitors also collected a whopping 452 pounds of food donations for the Salvation Army. The donations are distributed to families in need in Duluth, Hibbing, International Falls, Cloquet, Virginia, Grand Rapids, and Superior.
Since August 2021, more than 1,000 referrals have been made through Resourceful, a tool connecting people facing social needs to programs and services for food, shelter, health care, work financial assistance, and more. Resourceful is a collaborative effort among Essentia Health, Wilderness Health, Generations Health Care Initiatives, and United Way of Cass-Clay County.
Iron Range colleagues volunteered at the United Way of North East Minnesota filling buddy backpacks - filled with nutritious, nonperishable, child-friendly food items for children who are at risk of going hungry over the weekend. More than 35,000 buddy backpack meal kits were provided during the 2020-2021 school year.
