A project conducted by Essentia Health Primary Care staff and researchers to improve dementia care in our clinics won the 2016 Preventive Care Recognition Award. Essentia Health also won 13 Partners in Excellence awards for meeting or exceeding quality metrics in areas ranging from orthopedics to cardiology - November 2016.
Essentia Health clinics have been recognized – and financially rewarded – for meeting or making great improvement toward best-practice standards for diabetes, depression and vascular disease. The Minnesota Health Action Group and its Minnesota Bridges to Excellence program honored 276 clinics in Minnesota, Wisconsin and North Dakota and awarded $1.5 million in rewards. Essentia Health’s total reward was $106,312. - August 2016.
Essentia Health staff earn PRC awards in all service areas. 152 of Essentia's physicians, advanced practitioners and care teams placed at or near the top of PRC’s national rankings. - June 2016
The Essentia Health Cancer Research Program received the highest possible results in a recent audit conducted by the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG)/American College of Radiology Imaging Network (ACRIN). It was the first time the Cancer Research Program – a system-wide program – underwent an ECOG/ACRIN audit. - May 2016
Essentia Health has been recognized as a Best Practices Adopter by the Healthcare Financial Management Association. The recognition means Essentia has demonstrated that it follows nearly 100 best practices for financial interactions with patients. - April 2016
The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) awarded the level 3 ACO re-certification to Essentia, the highest level of certificationpossible. Currently, only two U.S. health systems have this certification. - March 2016
Essentia Health’s Continuing Medical Education (CME) program received a full four-year re-accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME).- March 2016
DAISY Awards for nurses expand across the organization. The DAISY Award was founded by the family of Patrick Barnes, who died from complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenia Purpura (ITP) disease in 1999 at age 33. Awards are presented across Essentia. DAISY stands for Diseases Attacking the Immune System. - February 2016
This national recognition highlighted how Essentia Health reduced its bad debt by more than $4 million in a year. Through the use of the ClearBalance program, Essentia helped patients cover almost $21 million in medical costs in 2015 - 2016.
Five Essentia Health hospitals were among a select group of hospitals nationwide recognized for promoting enrollment in state organ donor registries in a national campaign sponsored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The campaign has added 400,000 donor enrollments to state registries nationwide from 2011 - 2016.

Primary care and pharmacy services recently received 11 awards for quality and innovation from HealthPartners. The awards were for meeting or exceeding quality metrics. - February 2015
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services launched a national hypertension initiative in 2012. Called the Million Hearts Hypertension Control Challenge, its goal was to recognize healthcare systems and medical practices for helping their patients keep blood pressure under control. Essentia Health was one of 30 health systems nationwide recognized for meeting the Million Hearts challenge. - February 2015
